Strengths: The guys have really bought into our system, style, and mentality throughout the summer
and preseason, and we have enjoyed competing throughout. We have several returning
lettermen and experience across the lineup that will look to lead us throughout the
campaign. We have a long, athletic lineup that we can use to our advantage at times. Our
leadership and work ethic have been tremendous thus far and we will look to continue that
against a daunting schedule early.
Weaknesses: Any time you are installing and implementing a new system, it will take time to understand the nuances. The kids have been working hard to learn and grow through this and we are
excited about the potential that has in store if this continues. If we can continue to grow
defensively and in our communication, the goals this group has are within reach.
Coach’s Comments: “These players have worked hard in the off-season and we hope that this work will pay off. We will look to compete every night in an always challenging Putnam County League as well as a very competitive non-league schedule. We have a daunting early schedule with 12 games within the first 5 weeks of the season, but we have committed ourselves to the idea of just improving every day with the end goal in mind. The PCL is always a challenge. This year is no different. Pandora-Gilboa had a tremendous turnaround last year and look to be the leading contender heading into the 2017-18 campaign; Pandora has nearly everyone back from a very successful team last year. However, Miller City and Fort Jennings should also be strong. Kalida is a perennial winner and Columbus Grove and Leipsic are always formidable squads with their athleticism. We have tried to preach to our guys that if we continue to get better every day, we can compete with great effort on any given night.”
