Bryan 50, Celina 41
Brett Schwieterman scored 15 points for Celina, and teammate Kole Merlin chipped in 10 points, but it wasn’t enough as Celina’s season came to a close with a 50-41 loss to Bryan in the sectional semifinal at Paulding Tuesday.
Evan Smith (15 points), Jaden Valderes (12 points), and Colt Arthur (11 points) led Bryan in the victory.
Bryan advances to play Ottawa-Glandorf Friday at 6:15 PM. Celina finishes their season at 6-17.
Van Wert 68, St. Marys 59
Van Wert outscored St. Marys 22-11 in the final quarter to grab a come from behind 68-59 victory over the Roughriders Tuesday.
Jacoby Kelly led the Cougars with 18 points, while Nate Place scored 17 in the win. Drew Bagley (15 points) and Dylan Lautzenheiser (10 points) added to a well-rounded scoring effort.
Derek Jay had a game-high 20 points, while Braden Dunlap scored 19 points in the loss.
Van Wert moves on to play Elida in the Sectional Final Friday at 8:00 PM, while St. Marys ends their season at 8-15.
St. Henry 72, Waynesfield-Goshen 37
A trio of St. Henry Redskins finished in double digits as they topped Waynesfield-Goshen 72-37 in the Sectional Semifinal at Coldwater Tuesday night.
Caden Niekamp (13 points), Tyler Schlarman (13 points), and Ryan Luttmer (12 points) each made it into double figures in the victory.
Kale Kaufman led the Tigers with 10 points.
Waynesfield-Goshen played the Redskins tight through one quarter, with St. Henry leading 18-14 after one quarter, before outscoring the Tigers 18-3 in the second quarter to blow the game open.
St. Henry, now 14-9, advances to play Upper Scioto Valley Friday at 6:15 PM. Waynesfield-Goshen ends their season at 2-22.
New Bremen 65, Ada 31
Freshman Nolan Bornhorst has led New Bremen all season, and that was no different during a 65-31 sectional semifinal victory over the Ada Bulldogs Tuesday.
Bornhorst led all scorers with 16 points, including a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Tate Meyers joined Bornhorst in double digits with 12 points.
Owen Conley’s 10 points led Ada in a losing effort.
New Bremen (2-21) moves on to the Sectional Final against Fort Recovery Friday at 8:00 PM. Ada ends their season with a 4-19 record.
Lincolnview 66, Antwerp 47
Caden Ringwald led Lincolnview with 15 points en route to a 66-47 Lancer win over Antwerp.
Chayten Overholt (14 points), Ryan Rager (12 points), and Ethan Kemler (10 points) each hit double figures for the Lancers.
Matt Jones scored a game-high 18 points in the loss for Antwerp.
The Lancers were 12 of 13 from the free throw line, while Antwerp was just 3 of 13.
Lincolnview (11-12) advances to play Crestview Saturday at 5:00 PM. Antwerp ends their season at 8-15.
Fairlawn 62, Botkins 34
Nathan Lessing was a force to be reckoned with during Fairlawn’s 62-34 win over Botkins.
Lessing, a UNOH commit, scored 31 points, while shooting 11 of 13 from the field, 3 of 3 from behind the arc, and and 6 of 7 from the free throw line. Luke Hickman chipped in 11 points in the win.
Lessing moved into 22nd place on the state’s all-time leading scorer list, finishing the game with 2,214 points.
Luke Bergman led Botkins with 14 points. Alex Bergman chipped in 9 points in the loss.
Fairlawn, now 21-3, advances to play Jackson Center Friday at 7:00 PM. Botkins ends their season with an 8-15 record.
Jackson Center 49, Covington 41
Brady Wildermuth’s double-double propelled Jackson Center to a 49-41 victory over Covington Tuesday.
Wildermuth scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. He got to the free throw line 14 times, making 9 of his attempts.
Covington was led by Jayce Pond’s 10 points.
The Tigers advance to Friday’s sectional final against Fairlawn at 7:00 PM in Piqua.
