Fort Recovery 64, Delphos Jefferson 50
Fort Recovery used a huge 27 point third period to top the Delphos Jefferson Wildcats at home Friday night 64-50 despite the slow start.
Delphos Jefferson outscored the Indians 21-11 in the first period and led by six at the half. The second half belonged to Ft. Recovery though where they turned a six-point deficit into a 14-point rout.
Micaih Cox led the Indians with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Cox was joined in double figures by Caleb Martin (12) to go along with five assists. The win moves Fort Recovery’s record 2-0 on the season.
Delphos Jefferson was led by Jace Stockwell who stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, three steals, four assists, and rebounds. Alex Rode added twelve rebounds for the Wildcats who fall to 0-3 and will face Perry on the road Saturday.
St. Henry 65, St. Marys 49
St. Henry got double digit efforts out of Parker Link (19), Mitch Schwieterman (17), and Tyler Schlarman (12) in the Redskins 65-49 win against St. Marys.
Derek Jay did everything he could to keep the Rough Riders in the game. Jay led all scorers with 30 points.
The Redskins push their record to 2-1 on the season and will play a non-division game Saturday night on the road at Mississinawa Valley. St. Marys drops to 0-1 and will travel to New Bremen to face the Cardinals on Saturday.
Fairlawn 74, Riverside 37
Fairlawn doubled up Riverside in their 74-37 win. Riverside was led by Hunter Kreglow with 10 points and five boards.
“Obviously, Fairlawn is a good team. We knew that going in and we just did not execute on either end of the floor,” Riverside coach Seth Bodenmiller said. “We were only down by 10 at the end of the first quarter, but we just could not score in the second quarter. After halftime we made a couple of runs, but Fairlawn responded every single time.”
With the loss the Pirates drop to 1-2 on the season and hit the road on Tuesday to face Indian Lake.
Fort Jennings 57, Antwerp 50
The Antwerp Archers got 15 points out of Matt Jones, but it was not enough as Fort Jennings escaped town with a 57-50 win. The deciding factors in the game was the 10 point rebounding edge enjoyed by Fort Jennings and the fourteen points the Archers gave away from the charity stripe.
Antwerp is now 0-3 for the season while Fort Jennings improves their record to 2-1 early in the 2016-2017 basketball season.
