Continental has hired Eric Maag as their new boys basketball coach.
Maag is a 2007 Columbus Grove graduate, and previously served as the JV coach at Columbus Grove for four seasons, and spent last year as an assistant coach at Kalida. Maag served as the interim head coach at Columbus Grove while Ryan Stechschulte took a leave of absence during the ’15-’16 season.
“We are excited to bring coach Maag on staff and look forward to what he has to offer the program,” Continental Athletic Director Tim Eding said in a press release. “Coach Maag has already hit the ground running and put together a coaching staff to help lead the Pirate basketball team.”
Kyle Meyer, a former Columbus Grove and Ohio Northern standout, will serve as Maag’s varsity assistant. Brock Homier, who led the Pirates to the State Tournament in 2011, will serve as the JV coach.
Maag replaces former Continental standout Kurtis Brown, who’s contract was not renewed after compiling a 41-50 record during his four seasons.
