Ottawa-Glandorf Girls Fall in State Semifinals
Ottawa-Glandorf came in to their Division II State Semifinal matchup with Kettering Archbishop Alter with revenge on their minds, after losing the State Championship Game to the Knights in 2016.
After trailing by 10 going into the final stanza, the Lady Titans battled all the way back to force overtime before falling 50-43.
Kadie Hempfling led the way for Ottawa-Glandorf, scoring 15 points, and dishing out 5 assists in the loss. Lexi Schroeder chipped in 12 points for the Lady Titans.
Libby Bazelak paced Alter with her game-high 20 points. Braxtin Miller scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Lady Knights.
Ottawa-Glandorf out rebounded, forced more turnovers, had more second chance points, and scored more points in the paint than Alter, but free throws put the Lady Knights over the top.
Alter shot 72% (8-11) from the charity stripe, while Ottawa-Glandorf only made four trips to the free throw line all afternoon, only making one.
Alter advances to the Division II State Championship game, where they’ll play Hathaway Brown. Ottawa-Glandorf finishes their season with a 27-1 record.
