Waterford Beats Jackson Center on Buzzer Beater
Hayley Duff’s layup at the buzzer gave Waterford a 37-35 win over Jackson Center in the Division IV State Semifinals Thursday.
The Lady Tigers trailed 20-15 at the halftime break, before Waterford went on a 12-3 run in the third quarter, to take a 32-18 lead after three.
But Jackson Center never quit in the fourth, clawing all the way back to tie the game, before Duff’s game-winning layup.
The Lady Tigers were led by Cassie Meyer’s 10 points.
Alli Kern led the way for Waterford, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the win.
Waterford advances to play Berlin Hiland, who beat another local school, Ottoville, on a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Jackson Center ends their season with a 23-5 record.
