Shane Wellman has resigned as the head football coach at Parkway.
The Parkway Board of Education accepted Wellman’s resignation at their meeting on Tuesday.
Wellman’s tenure ends after two seasons coaching the Panthers. Parkway went 1-9 during both of Wellman’s two seasons, going a combined 1-15 in MAC play.
He was hired in April of 2016 after spending one season at Vinton County High School, located between Chillicothe and Athens. Vinton County went 3-7 during his one season at the helm.
The Panthers ran an interesting run-based offense under Wellman, finishing 6th in the conference in rushing. However, defensively, Parkway surrendered 36 points per game, and finished last in total team defense, giving up 360 yards per game.
Parkway is now the fifth local school to have a head coaching change in their football program. Three other openings have been filled. You can view the entire list of area coaching changes here.
