#2 Wapakoneta vs. #3 Bellbrook

Friday,  November 15th @7:00pm

The Division III, Region 12 regional semifinal between the #2 Wapakoneta Redskins (12-0) and #3 Bellbrook Golden Eagles (11-1) has been chosen as Lima’s Sports Radio 93.1 The Fan Game of the Week. This highly anticipated matchup will take place at Memorial Stadium at Troy High School, with both teams fighting for a spot in the regional final.

Wapakoneta heads into this game undefeated, having dominated their competition all season to secure the top spot in the Western Buckeye League (WBL). In their last game, they defeated #10 Wilmington 48-12, pulling ahead with a 34-6 halftime lead that Wilmington couldn’t overcome. Quarterback Caleb Moyer led the charge with three rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, while Andre Longsworth added another rushing score. On defense, Jarrett Mulen and Kaden Page each snagged an interception, showcasing Wapakoneta’s all-around strength. With an average of 37 points per game, the Redskins have proven they’re a tough team to stop.

Bellbrook, meanwhile, has been on a roll since losing their season opener to top-ranked Tippecanoe. The Golden Eagles have won 11 straight games, including a tight 24-21 victory over #6 Archbishop McNicholas last week. The game was close throughout, with Bellbrook tying it late in the fourth quarter. Then, senior kicker Riley Ferrin clinched the win with a clutch 48-yard field goal in the final minute—his third field goal over 40 yards this season. Quarterback Aiden Caswell contributed 63 passing yards and a touchdown, while Tanner Stewart added 73 rushing yards and a touchdown. Bellbrook’s balance and determination helped them finish first in the Southwestern Buckeye League (SWBL) and put up a solid 28 points per game.

Drew Pasteur’s Fantastic 50 predictions favor Wapakoneta by 14 points, but Bellbrook’s momentum and experience in close games could make things interesting.

The game kicks off Friday, November 15, 2024, at 7:00 PM. Both teams have a lot to play for, and as the Game of the Week, this matchup is sure to be exciting for fans. Expect both sides to give it their all in this high-stakes battle for a place in the regional finals.
