The Bath Wildcats will hit the road for their second away game of the season to face the Shawnee Indians on Friday, September 6th, at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming off decisive victories from last Friday and are eager to build on their success.

Bath High School enters this matchup with a 1-1 record, having narrowly lost their first road game to New Bremen in a close 17-14 contest. They rebounded strongly in their home opener against conference rival Van Wert High School, securing a 43-37 victory. Quarterback Zach Welsch led the offense with 218 passing yards, completing 69% of his passes and adding 3 touchdowns to his tally. Welsch connected with wide receiver Ethan Cole for a spectacular 69-yard touchdown. On the ground, Mikey Hale contributed 35 yards on 5 carries, but more importantly, he powered through for two touchdowns.

Shawnee, meanwhile, aims to extend their winning streak and improve on their perfect 2-0 record. They have already notched up road victories against Lima Central Catholic (33-19) and Elida (21-14). Now, they look forward to securing another win in their home opener against the Wildcats. In the tight game against Elida, Shawnee pulled ahead with two crucial runs that positioned them at the 3-yard line before eventually finding the end zone with less than 5 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Their defense held firm, allowing them to clinch the victory.

The last time these two teams met in Lima, Bath emerged victorious, edging out Shawnee 20-17, bolstered by the support of their home crowd. Shawnee will undoubtedly look to capitalize on their own home-field advantage when the game kicks off this Friday.
