Carey @ Lima Central Catholic
Saturday, 9/7/24 – 4 p.m.
Some Football Friday Night magic will carry over into Saturday as the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds face off against the Carey Blue Devils at 4 p.m. The Thunderbirds have the upper hand so far this season with a 1-1 record, while Carey is looking to bounce back after dropping their first two games.
After losing their season opener to Shawnee, Lima Central Catholic rebounded with a narrow 14-13 home victory against the St. John’s Bluejays. Despite being outgained in total yards, the Thunderbirds managed to secure the win, evening their record to 1-1.
Carey High School, on the other hand, is eager to end their two-game losing streak as they head to Spartan Stadium for their third game of the season. Their most recent game, a home matchup against the Galion Tigers, proved challenging, with the passing game faltering due to a late interception that kept them out of the end zone. However, their ground attack was a bright spot, racking up 125 yards, thanks to running backs Eli Steen and Brandon Tanner, and fullback Dash Puckett, who added a touchdown.
These teams last met at Memorial Stadium, where the Blue Devils secured a 28-14 home victory. Carey will look to replicate that success against the Thunderbirds this Saturday at 4 p.m., live on 93.1 The Fan.
