93.1 The Fan Game Of the Week
Allen East vs Columbus Grove
Friday September 27th
This week’s high school football matchup features two Northwest Conference rivals as the undefeated Columbus Grove Bulldogs (5-0) travel to Harrod to take on the Allen East Mustangs (2-2). With both teams boasting high-powered offenses and stout defenses, this Friday night clash promises to be a thriller.
Columbus Grove enters this game with an unblemished record, outscoring opponents 214-47 this season. In their last game, Grove took down Delphos Jefferson 65-6 after 205 rushing yards and a touchdown from Trenton Barraza. The Bulldogs’ offense has been dominant, averaging an impressive 42.8 points per game. Their running game has been particularly strong with Barraza, who is averaging 145 rushing yards per game, and has been pivotal in the Bulldogs’ explosive offense. On the defensive side, Columbus Grove has been a fortress, allowing only 9.4 points per game. This combination of offensive firepower and defensive stinginess has made them one of the top teams in their division.
Allen East comes into this game with a .500 record (2-2), but they have shown they can be a dangerous team. Their offense, which averages 30.5 points per game, is led by their versatile quarterback, Keagan Jones. The Mustangs bounced back last week with a thrilling 48-41 victory over Crestview, which should give them momentum heading into this week. Jones had 273 passing yards in that game and added 4 TD passes. He found receivers Ethan Young and Ethan Hershberger for a touchdown as well. Allen East’s defense has been less consistent, allowing 116 points across four games, but they will need a strong showing against Columbus Grove’s high-powered attack to stay competitive
This game will be crucial for Allen East as they look to hand Columbus Grove their first loss and climb back into the upper tier of the conference standings. For Columbus Grove, a win would keep their perfect season alive as they continue their quest for a conference title.
