Columbus Grove vs Spencerville
Friday September 13th, 7:00PM
Two undefeated teams will battle to maintain their perfect records as the Columbus Grove Bulldogs take on the Spencerville Bearcats in their first Northwest Conference game of the season. Both teams enter the matchup with a 3-0 record after securing wins against non-conference opponents last week.
Columbus Grove is coming off a 27-13 home victory against Patrick Henry, stripping the Patriots of their unbeaten status. The Bulldogs racked up 245 total yards, with 155 coming on the ground. Their defense was a standout, forcing six turnovers—four interceptions and two fumble recoveries—to keep the Patriots out of the end zone. Leading the charge for the Bulldogs in this matchup are running back Trenton Barazza and quarterback Landon Best. Barazza is averaging 124 rushing yards per game, while Best is putting up 111 yards through the air.
The undefeated Bearcats are also coming off a close win, edging Riverside 24-21. Spencerville held an 11-point lead with four minutes left when Riverside drove down the field, scored, and converted a two-point attempt to close the gap. The Bearcats secured the onside kick, sealing the game and leaving no room for a Riverside comeback. Spencerville dominated on the ground, rushing for nearly 240 yards.
These two teams last met on September 8, 2023, when the Bulldogs shut out the Bearcats 40-0 at home. This year’s rematch promises to be a heavyweight showdown. Catch all the action live on Friday, September 13th, at 7 p.m. on 93.1 The Fan.
