Ft. Loramie vs. Lima Central Catholic: Game Preview
September 20, 2024 – 7 p.m.
In their inaugural year in the Northwest Conference (NWC), the Ft. Loramie Redskins will host the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds, with both teams coming off wins in their first week of conference play. Lima Central Catholic (3-1 overall) has returned to the NWC this season and remains undefeated in conference action so far. Ft. Loramie, looking to make a strong impression in their new conference, sits at 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the NWC.
Lima Central Catholic made a strong statement in their NWC opener last week, defeating the Allen East Mustangs 35-7. This season marks the Thunderbirds’ return to the Northwest Conference after a brief hiatus. With powerhouse teams like Columbus Grove and Bluffton still on their schedule, LCC will need to maintain their momentum. Leading the charge is running back Matthew Quatman, who currently ranks second in the NWC with 477 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Quarterback Brady Parker has also been effective, throwing for 551 yards and 6 touchdowns this season.
Ft. Loramie, meanwhile, is finding their footing in the NWC after spending the last three years as an independent program, following the dissolution of the Cross County Conference after the 2020 season. Now with a conference home, the Redskins are off to a solid start, securing a 28-21 win against Crestview last week. Senior quarterback Gabe Hart threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, connecting with wide receiver Maxwell Maurer and tight end Carter Eilerman. Hart currently leads the NWC in passing yards, with 863 yards and 9 touchdowns this season.
Both teams are fighting to remain undefeated in conference play, knowing that a tough NWC schedule lies ahead. Catch all the action at Redskin Stadium this Friday at 7 p.m.
