Lima Senior vs. Toledo Bowsher: Game Preview

The Bowsher BlueRacers will travel to Spartan Stadium to face the undefeated Lima Senior Spartans (4-0) in a Toledo City League (TCL) matchup on Friday, September 20th, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 93.1 FM’s Fan Game of the Week. Bowsher enters the game with a 1-4 overall record, but they remain 1-0 in TCL play.
Lima Senior comes into this contest on the heels of a dominant 57-14 road victory against non-conference opponent Northview. Star quarterback Ja’niaus Avanti K’mere Hall led the way, throwing for an impressive 532 yards and 7 touchdowns. This performance boosted Hall’s season totals to 1,821 passing yards and 22 touchdowns in just four games. Despite two interceptions, Hall completed 63% of his passes, going 29 for 46. His primary target, senior wide receiver Isaiah Wilson, had a standout game with 9 receptions for 225 yards, including 3 touchdowns. The Spartans showcased their depth in the passing game, with five different receivers finding the end zone. Now, Lima Senior looks to continue their winning streak as they begin TCL play.
Head Coach Bill Lawrence says his team needs to, “Get out to a fast start and set the tempo early and take care of the ball so we’re in the right place to make the plays we need to make.”
Bowsher, on the other hand, will look to bounce back from a tough 46-0 loss on the road to the Delta Panthers. It marked the first time this season that the BlueRacers were held scoreless. However, Bowsher did secure a 29-6 victory against the Woodward Polar Bears in their TCL opener on September 13th, keeping them undefeated in conference play. Facing the Spartans will be a tall challenge, but Bowsher hopes to pull off an upset to remain unbeaten in the TCL.
In their last meeting, Lima Senior defeated Bowsher 39-14 in Toledo. The Spartans have also won their previous three matchups, dating back to August 2021.
