Rutledge Resigns After One Season at Parkway
Parkway head coach Rob Rutledge has stepped down after just one season with the Panthers.
Rutledge will be taking an undisclosed role at Ole Miss. The Rebels recently hired former West Virginia, Michigan, and Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez as their offensive coordinator and Rutledge worked for Rodriguez at each of those stops.
The Panthers finished 2018 with a 1-9 record, beating MAC foe Versailles for their lone victory. Parkway’s offense under Rutledge finished 6th in total offense in the MAC, garnering 297 yards per game, while the defense finished last, giving up 415 yards per game.
Rutledge, who was also featured on the Discovery Channel TV series “American Muscle” in 2014, replaced Shane Wellman who compiled a 2-18 record in two seasons with the Panthers in 2016 and 2017.
Parkway becomes the third local school with a head coaching vacancy, joining Versailles and Delphos Jefferson. You can keep track of all area coaching changes by clicking here.
